The Winds of God Are Blowing

Acts 2:2; Exodus 14:10-14

Watch Live

By: Pastor, Dr. Cullian W. Hill

As I come to us this morning to share with us concerning the winds of God that come from heaven and He, “The Wind”, fills the world and moves at will. He, The Wind, cannot be cornered or contained by any special group. The Wind’s comings and goings are according to fixed laws, but it is sovereignly trammeled by none. The Wind can be commanded by nobody. Allow me to give The Wind some human attributes. He comes from heaven, He will do what He wants to do, not what we want, and He is omnipresent and omnipotent. “The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou heareth the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, whiter it goeth: so is everyone that is born of the Spirit”. (John 3:8)

There is something mysterious about the wind. It was the terrible winds of God that cut a path through the heart of the waters of the Red Sea so Israel could cross. This wind was no natural wind. What it accomplished was miraculous and there is no way to explain this wind other than it was a supernatural wind.

One of the greatest miracles in the Red Sea crossing was the drying of the sea bed. This wind had some heat in it. The sea bed of the Red Sea was so dry that all the people and the livestock could travel across the sea bed easily.

Today, we need the winds of God to blow on America. Wonderful things can happen when the winds of God begin to blow. The wind of God blew on the day of Pentecost and it pricked in their hearts (Acts 2:37). The winds of God blew on Simon Peter and he became an extraordinary man. Before the wind of God blew on him, he was unstable, wishy-washy and impulsive when he met Jesus. But when God’s wind blew on him; O what a change!

Saul of Tarsus was no exception. He destroyed the church. But the wind of God blew on him on his way to Damascus. O what a change in his life, Today; this morning I want to know has the wind of God blown on you? Ordinary people do extraordinary things when the winds of God begin to blow. Even ordinary churches do extraordinary things when the winds of God begin to blow. Due to the condition of America, we can not continue to do ordinary things. The great sin of our churches is that of being ordinary, that of doing old things in the same way, over and over again.

In our churches our time is here when we must no longer be ordinary. We dare not! The winds of God must blow on the church. When the winds of God blow on us and shake us, we can do extra ordinary things. O today we need the winds; the winds of God to blow upon us! When they do, it will make all the difference in the world.

Now, as I get ready to close, I mentioned before, the name of Paul after the winds of God blew on him, he went into the desert and talked to God about what he wanted him to do. He did extraordinary things. There was an uproar of the Silversmiths at Ephesus because he preached Jesus unto them. Throughout Asia he preached Jesus unto them. Throughout Asia he preached Jesus and the Silversmith’s occupation was lost. The wind did not blow upon Saul, but a light from heaven shined upon him. Whether God uses a light or the wind, you must be born again. He might not use the wind, earthquake or fire, but a still small voice will do the same. You can do extraordinary things.

Well, in order to do what God, through Jesus Christ, who came to set in order the things that are wanton, you must hear the wind, hear the still, small voice, or see the great light from heaven in order to do extraordinary things. Our world is in serious need of Jesus who is the light of the world. He said unto them, “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of the world (John 8:12). Which one? Wind, fire, earthquake, or the still small voice! America is in need. On the day of Pentecost they heard something like a rushing mighty wind. Whatever, it filled the house where they were sitting. Even cloven tongues, like as of fire and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance (Acts 2:2-4).

What happened on the day of Pentecost was so great that the only way they could describe it was, that it was like a mighty rushing wind. But it sat on each of them. It also filled all the house where they were sitting. O what a day! Has the Holy Ghost sat upon you and filled your heart? He comes upon whom He will. Trust God today. Today is the day of salvation. Now is the acceptance time.
